The rules for using Motheo to book, queue for, and pay for shared laundry machines.
By creating an account or using Motheo, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you’re accepting on behalf of a venue (as a venue admin), you’re confirming you have the authority to do so for that venue.
Motheo is a software platform that lets residents of a participating building or complex (“venue”) see which shared laundry machines are free, join a queue for one, and pay to activate it. Motheo is provided by LEANO.
Motheo is software, not a laundromat: we don’t own, install, or maintain the washers and dryers themselves — see §9.
Machines are used on a queue basis. When a machine becomes available and it’s your turn, you have a short window to pay and activate it before it’s offered to the next person in line — don’t join a queue you don’t intend to use, since it holds a place other residents can’t take.
Session length and pricing are set per machine type by that venue’s admin, not by Motheo centrally — different venues may charge differently for the same type of wash.
Prices are shown before you pay, in South African Rand, and payment is processed by Paystack. By paying for a session, you authorise that charge. We don’t store your card details — Paystack does, under its own security standards.
A payment hold that isn’t completed within its window expires automatically and the machine is offered to the next resident in the queue. Once a session has started, it isn’t refundable through the Service — if a machine failed to work as expected, contact your venue admin directly, since they’re best placed to inspect the equipment and decide on a remedy.
You agree not to:
The physical washers and dryers belong to, and are maintained by, your venue (its body corporate, landlord, or managing agent) — not by Motheo. Motheo’s role is limited to the booking, queueing, and payment software.
We’re not responsible for a machine’s mechanical condition, for damage to your laundry, or for injury arising from using the machines themselves; those are matters for your venue, as the equipment’s owner and operator, to address — see the liability limits in §12.
If you administer a venue, you’re responsible for the accuracy of the pricing and machine information you set, for reviewing resident access requests in good faith, and for the physical machines’ upkeep and safety. Motheo isn’t a party to, and isn’t liable for, disputes between a venue and its residents over those matters.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches §8, or at a venue admin’s request where the account belongs to one of their residents. You can close your own account at any time by contacting us.
The Service is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent the law allows:
Nothing in this section limits liability that South African law doesn’t allow us to limit, such as liability for gross negligence.
You agree to indemnify Motheo against claims arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the Service, except where the claim results from our own negligence or wrongdoing.
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
We may update these terms as the Service evolves. We’ll update the date at the top of this page, and tell you directly through the Service if a change materially affects your rights.
